A high-end home may also be referred to as a ‘custom home’ or a ‘luxury home’. The uniqueness of high-end homes suggests that they were tailored to a builder or homeowners individual wants and needs, or “customized”. Upgrading washroom fixtures, finishing a basement, and re-decorating the master bedroom are all ways to personalize or customize your home. Custom kitchens containing custom cabinetry are the most common example in home renovation today. However, unless extensive tweaks are made to the initial stock plans, or you are a builder/architect starting from scratch with a new concept, it is not a true custom home.
