Student Painting, Landscaping and more

Schools out for the summer and student renovation companies are back in business. You may have noticed a recent influx of marketing flyers and lawn signs promoting student services from companies with names such Scholars Painting and University Roofers. Painting is the most common trade for this type of business, however the seasonal nature of landscaping and roofing naturally has them employing students. Ontario-wide landscaping company SpringMasters Canada and others do not limit employment to students, but certainly have a marketing campaign targeted at the younger generation. Providing free transportation to job-sites,  a fun team atmosphere, and appearing at youth job fairs among some of these tactics.

The friendly, reasonably-priced and prompt service provided by student reno companies is to be appreciated. However, when hiring less experienced workers than the seasoned contractor, quality of work is understandably a concern for many homeowners. Selecting long-standing companies for standard reno work is the safest bet. Look for professional certifications, warranties and customer testimonials on their company web-sites.  Like all contracting companies, free on-site quotations are performed and will provide you with a feel for their business. Additionally, some degree of service and safety training is required of all new hires.

College Pro is the original student run painting company, and was started by a Thunder Bay, Ontario college student. They are now North America-wide and have employed some 100,000 students with summer work and managing positions. They are a BBB and EPA Certified Reno Firm. In addition to exterior and interior painting, they offer window, home siding and eavestrough cleaning. Check out these exterior home painting tips from College Pro Painters: http://www1.collegepro.com/homeowners/Exterior_Painting_Tips/sb.cn

Spring Masters Canada offer exterior home services in lawncare (core aeration, dethatching) as well as window washing and driveway sealing. They have offices in Ottawa, Hamilton, Brantford, St. Catharines and Niagara. Learn about their 3 Step Master Plan to proper Lawn Care: http://www.springmasterscanada.com/sm_master_plan.php
